This is one of my favorite Calais photos. Taken in 1895 it shows a young lady on her horse at the bottom of Calais Avenue. The Masonic Hall is to the left and a young man is lounging against one of Calais’ elms. These trees grew to magnificent heights as shown in the next two photos.From the park to the top of Hinkley Hill there was no more beautiful street in Maine.
